LAS MARIPOSAS CIVIL WAR DAYS (M)
Long Ranch on Yachi Gulch Rd
The most authentic Civil War event in the state of California, these three days are chock full of true-to-life events and displays, live battles, and a complete day dedicated to educational programs. Sponsored by Mariposa County and Longs' Ranch in partnership with the National Civil War Association. These Civil War Days are held in the Sierra Nevada foothills on Longs' Mariposa ranch, which occupies a piece of John C. Fremont's historical 44,386 acre Las Mariposas Land Grant. Friday is the school educational program only, available to all schools. Saturday and Sunday are full of events including camps, brigade drills, skirmishes, battles, horse drawn artillery demo, and other demonstrations and exhibits.
